Rejoice in the Lord Always!

I love to sing praises to the Lord; it helps me worship and enter the Holy Spirit with a greater closeness and shuts the world out. As I praise, it blocks out the worry and fear of the day. I remember a time I was getting mouth surgery, and they had to put me to sleep, but they were not sure which medication I was allergic to. As I prayed and asked Jesus for wisdom, He said it was okay to take the medicine they had available. In the dentist office, they had Christian worship music on, which helped me to keep my mind on Jesus during those fearful moments. After the procedure was over the doctor said everything went well; he was worried himself and asked me what I thought. I just told him I trusted in the Lord. I praised Him before and after for the victory, there was very little discomfort and the healing was fast.

Many times, I get a song of praise during the night in a dream and wake up singing it. Let me tell you that I am no singer at all so Jesus must really love me to listen to my singing. Gospel music is just the gospel put to music. If it is truly gospel the Holy Spirit will minister to the people, physically, and spiritually. And you will say, “it was good to be in the house of the Lord,” for when we lift Him higher, He will draw all men unto Himself.

I love to start my day in prayer and reading the word for it prepares me for what’s ahead. I listen to Southern Gospel, it’s my favorite. When I play them so many times, the songs meet my needs and then I know that Jesus has heard my prayers and a peace comes over me and a joy. When king Saul was having a bad day David would go in to him and play his harp to soothe his soul. How great is our God and worthy to be praised!

Psalm 33:1-5

1-Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful.

2-Praise the Lord with the harp, make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings.

3-Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy.

4-For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth.

5-He loves righteousness and justice: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
