Lowly
Matthew chapter 5 verses 3 through 12 are known as the Beatitudes; they are part of the sermons Jesus spoke during the Sermon on the Mount. They describe the attitude and characteristics that are blessed by God and promise rewards for those who embody them. They may not fit into the world’s view but are highly regarded in the Kingdom of God. We must be the salt of the earth and live a separate life unto Him. Today’s verses do not list all the beatitudes, only meekness, but I strongly encourage you to open the Word on your own and read the beatitudes for yourself! When I first received Jesus in my heart that is where He first led me to read in my Bible. I was so engulfed in the Word; I felt like a sponge just soaking in the Word. It became so real and alive. I just wanted to baste in His Word, I could not get enough of it; 54 years have gone by, and I am just as in love with the Word as ever.
I love to pray for whatever He leads me to pray for- people or situations, no matter whatever the issues. I love people, I guess that is another reason why I became a hairdresser. You can cheer people up and make them feel good about themselves when their hair is done. I have been through a lot in life, and I know pain and sorrow. Sometimes you just need a gentle word or smile letting people know it will be okay. I know loneliness, even in a crowded room, or when you go home and close that door to an empty room. Don’t forget Jesus sees those tears and died to heal all those hurts! I know, because He did it for me.
I remember one day a customer was talking to me and said, “I am so lonely,” and she had a husband. That touched my heart to show me that it’s not a husband that is needed to fill the heart, but Jesus who enters in and takes the loneliness away. What I went through in life I put it in my book; No, not to sell my book, but as I was going through my own trials, I read many testimonial books that encouraged me to victory. I just want to pay forward how those books helped me, hoping my book can also help someone else who was like me. I did not understand what Jesus was doing at those hard times in my life, and I questioned Him a lot. But hindsight has shown me through it all, it was to glorify God and help others through. It was not an easy book to write, it brought back many sad memories for me, but if it can help just one person to hold onto victory ahead, then it is worth it all. I love you and so does Jesus!
