Holy Communion

Today’s verses talk about the custom of the Lord’s Supper by Jesus and how important it is in Christian worship, serving to remind us of Christ’s sacrifice and participation in His body and blood.

John chapter 6 verses 53 through 58 reads, “Then Jesus said unto them, ‘Verily, verily, I say unto you, except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so, he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. This is that bread which came down from Heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live forever.

To me, holy communion shows both the intimate relationship and the solemnity with Christ Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Whatever it takes for me to stay close to Him is what I want to do; to honor Him for giving His life for me and choosing me for His own. We use these symbols to Glorify Him for He is worthy to be praised! We do this in remembrance of His death and His resurrection. He still reigns today in a seat next to His Father in Heaven. Amen!

1 Corinthians 11:23-26

23-For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread:

24-And when He had given thanks, He brake it, and said, “Take, eat: this is My body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of Me.”

25-After the same manner also He took the cup, when He had supped, saying, “This cup is the new testament in My blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

Matthew 26:26-28

26-And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”

27-And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink ye all of it;

28-For this is My blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”
