As We Pray

As we spend time with Jesus, we grow closer to Him every day. What is prayer? It is literally just speaking to the Lord and sharing our thoughts and needs, sometimes with tears. Jesus will guide and comfort us through His love as we go to Him. Sometimes our prayers do not line up with God's will for our lives, but He knows what is ahead and we must trust in His guidance. Waiting and trusting Him is so important. If He has not answered yet, rest in Him in prayer and faith. Rather than focusing on what you want, which may not be good for you at this time, realize God knows the future! God is a personal, Heavenly Father, and He is more concerned about His plan for your life. Trusting, which seems to be a problem for us, opens a door for us to walk through in faith toward our Father, which has us grow closer and deeper in Him. Sometimes it is hard to trust and obey. As we grow, hindsight is the best lesson. For years I tried to lose weight; it made me so depressed. I tried so hard and did not understand where I was missing the mark. It has been a hard lesson for me to learn. My parents were always on me for my weight and even took me to a doctor, so I grew up believing you had to be thin or no one would like you. When I got saved, I had to unlearn this outlook. I had to learn a lesson on trusting Jesus and letting go of self and pride. I could not do it in my own strength and turned it over to Him. I read somewhere that by writing on the Internet and sharing with others, you learn more about yourself, my eyes being opened to my flesh. As I was in prayer, Jesus spoke to my heart that I might not be skinny, but I would always look nice, like a proper lady with dignity, and I have. Thank you, Jesus, that is one small baby step closer. Jesus looks on the inside and sees our heart which is the most important to Him; that is where He resides.
